Disneyland Resort News
The gates to the happiest place on earth are calling, and this week, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim promises a realm brimming with enchanting experiences. From thrilling rides and captivating shows to delightful dining and hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered, a trip to Disneyland is always an adventure.
Savor the Magic: A Deep Dive into Disneyland’s Culinary Delights
Disneyland’s culinary landscape is constantly evolving, offering a plethora of options to satisfy every palate. For those visiting this week, several new menu items have recently debuted, adding fresh flavors to the park’s already impressive roster.
At the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, which runs until April 21st, the Golden Dreams booth presents the Blueberry Pancake Cold Brew [$7.25]. This innovative beverage combines the kick of cold brew with the sweet notes of blueberry and maple, surprisingly evoking the taste of breakfast cereal. Over at the LA Style booth, the Western BBQ Burger Bao [$9.50] offers a unique twist on a classic, featuring ground beef in a soft bao bun topped with sweet barbecue sauce, bacon, and crispy onions.
Pickle enthusiasts will rejoice over the Pickle Whiskey Sour [$17], a surprisingly harmonious blend of sweet and sour with a spicy Tajin rim, available at the Peppers Cali-ente booth and Smokejumpers Grill. For a taste of New Orleans, the Snack-Size Mardi Gras Monte Cristo [$11.49] at Royal Street Veranda provides a more accessible portion of the beloved Cafe Orleans sandwich. Disneyland Park welcomes back a fan favorite with the Cinnamon Roll Pretzel [$7.99] at Refreshment Corner, a delightful hybrid that had been missed by many.
Beyond these recent additions, several other new items launched in March offer further culinary exploration (see the new food items). At Pym Test Kitchen in Disney California Adventure, guests can try the Red Gamma Gulp [$7.29], a red velvet cold brew with cream cheese cold foam, and the Red Rage Wings [$12.49], spicy chicken wings with potato bites. Nearby at Pym Tasting Lab, the Liberty Punch [$18.50] mixes vodka with lemonade, wild strawberry, blue hawaiian, and citrus meringue. Disneyland Park’s Royal Street Veranda also offers new Baked Cheesy Biscuits [$8.99] infused with cheddar and Cajun cheese. Keep an eye out for the Deep Fried Pineapple [Price and location not specified], a unique sweet treat. Over in Disney California Adventure, Willie’s Churros now features a Maple Bacon Churro [$7.50]. For a later-day option in Disneyland Park, Red Rose Tavern offers the Burger Fantasyland Faire Fold [$14.99] after 4 p.m., with chicken and spicy chicken variations also available.
Looking slightly beyond this week, starting March 28th, the “Season of the Force” will bring a galaxy of new food items to Disneyland Park and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (check out the Season of the Force menus). These themed offerings, including Dewback Chili Noodles, Fried Chicken Baos, Galactic Gyro Burger, and Wookiee Cookies, are designed to immerse guests further into the Star Wars universe (see the foodie guide).
For those seeking unique or limited-time bites, the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival is a treasure trove. Running until April 21st, the festival features a diverse array of dishes and drinks at various booths (explore the must-try items). Highlights include the Birria mac and cheese, Mini LA street dog, Mango sticky rice-inspired churro, and the Mickey-shaped Macaron made with SNICKERS (more on the festival highlights). These exclusive items offer a taste of California with a Disney twist. While the official menu might not always highlight them, a classic piece of advice for dining at Disneyland is to inquire about the chef’s special at Café Orleans (check out Cafe Orleans). While not guaranteed, past specials like Steak and Potatoes have offered a delightful off-menu surprise.
Several dishes have garnered significant attention recently. The Blueberry Pancake Cold Brew and Pickle Whiskey Sour are trending due to their novelty and the current fascination with unique coffee concoctions and pickle-flavored items (as noted in this article). The Birria Mac & Cheese, available at Sonoma Terrace and Mercado de Antojos, fuses two popular comfort foods and has received positive reviews (see the festival must-tries). The Mini LA Street Dog at LA Style and Award Wieners offers a flavorful and portable snack (one of the menu highlights). The Mango Sticky Rice-Inspired Churro at Señor Buzz Churros and near Goofy’s Sky School provides a unique twist on a beloved park treat (another festival favorite). The Loaded Carnitas Pretzel Bites at Stadium Vending offer a satisfying savory option (a popular choice). Finally, the Mickey-shaped Macaron made with SNICKERS at Uncork California combines iconic Disney imagery with a popular candy bar flavor (a sweet treat).
To optimize your dining experience, consider utilizing the Disneyland app’s mobile order feature, which can save you time. This allows you to order ahead at many quick-service locations. Magic Key holders can even find exclusive mobile order offers at places like Alien Pizza Planet and Golden Horseshoe (check out Magic Key benefits). For those planning to indulge in the Food and Wine Festival offerings, the Sip and Savor Pass can provide cost savings. Magic Key holders can purchase a specially priced pass that includes a lanyard (more on Magic Key extras). For table-service restaurants, especially popular spots like Cafe Orleans, making reservations up to 60 days in advance is highly recommended. Don’t forget that guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages into the park. Exploring dining options at the Disneyland Resort hotels, such as Goofy’s Kitchen, can sometimes yield better reservation availability. A lesser-known tip is to take advantage of the toppings bar at Smokejumpers Grill to customize your meal.
Based on recent guest feedback, several menu items consistently emerge as crowd favorites. The Monte Cristo Sandwich at Cafe Orleans remains a beloved classic. The Ronto Wrap at Ronto Roasters in Galaxy’s Edge is a popular savory choice. Lobster Nachos at Lamplight Lounge offer a more upscale and shareable option. The Plaza Inn Fried Chicken is frequently praised for its comforting and satisfying taste. Bengal BBQ Skewers provide a flavorful and convenient snack. Lastly, the Quesabirria Tacos at Cocina Cucamonga have gained popularity for their rich and savory flavors.
Beyond the well-known favorites, some unexpected dining hacks can enhance your visit. Asking for a cup of ice water at any quick-service location is a simple way to stay hydrated without spending extra. Utilizing the toppings bar at Smokejumpers Grill can add extra value to your meal. Taking the bakery tour at Boudin Bakery in Disney California Adventure not only offers insight into their bread-making process but also includes a free sample. Guests who purchase a soda at Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Californian Hotel can enjoy free refills at their Coke Freestyle machine. Given the often generous portion sizes at Disneyland, sharing meals can be a cost-effective strategy, especially for snacks or lighter appetites.
Unlock the Secrets: Insider Tips for an Unforgettable Disneyland Adventure
For those looking to capture unique memories, several lesser-known photo opportunities exist throughout the resort. The pathway connecting Pacific Wharf and Radiator Springs in Disney California Adventure offers stunning theming and lighting, particularly after dark (check out more picture spots). In Disneyland, Snow White’s Wishing Well near the castle provides a charming and often less crowded backdrop (find more photo locations). Tom Sawyer’s Island offers a variety of rustic and scenic spots for photos (see more photo opportunities). Climbing to the top of Tarzan’s Treehouse can provide elevated and unique perspectives of Adventureland (discover more picture spots). In Disney California Adventure, the Grizzly Peak waterfall, located by Golden Vine Winery near San Fransokyo Square, offers a natural and picturesque setting. The fishing net decoration near Aunt Cass Café in San Fransokyo Square also provides a themed photo opportunity.
Character encounters are a highlight of any Disneyland trip, and some characters can be found in less obvious locations. Keep an eye out for roaming characters like Mickey and Minnie on Main Street, U.S.A. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is sometimes spotted near the Disneyland entrance. In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the marketplace is a place to encounter Boba Fett, the Mandalorian, and other familiar faces. Tiana often frequents New Orleans Square and the Mark Twain Riverboat. Occasionally, Belle, Cinderella, Ariel, and Mulan greet guests right at the Disneyland gates. While currently closed for refurbishment, Tinker Bell and her fairy friends can usually be found in Pixie Hollow. After riding The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, you might spot Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger in Pooh Corner. The Citizens of Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure offer fun and interactive encounters. Chase Disney Visa cardholders can enjoy exclusive character meet-and-greets at select locations. Looking ahead slightly, rumors suggest that Luke Skywalker in Jedi robes might make appearances in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during the Season of the Force, starting March 28th.
This week also marks the beginning of some special seasonal offerings. Starting March 25th and running until April 21st, guests can participate in Eggstravaganza, a resort-wide “egg” search with themed keepsakes available for purchase. While it begins just after the current week, the highly anticipated Season of the Force will commence on March 28th and continue until May 11th, bringing Star Wars-themed entertainment, food, and merchandise to Disneyland Park. While the main celebration begins later, preparations for Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, starting May 16th, might already be subtly visible around the resort. This anniversary will bring new entertainment like the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” featuring Duffy and ShellieMay, and the return of the “Paint the Night” parade and the “Wondrous Journeys” nighttime spectacular (more on the 70th Anniversary). Additionally, “it’s a small world” will reopen with a new “Coco” addition on April 25th.
Beyond the main attractions, several free souvenirs and hidden gems await discovery. Stop by City Hall to pick up a complimentary celebration button for first visits, birthdays, or other special occasions. Park maps and times guides make for classic free mementos. As mentioned earlier, free water is readily available, and Ghirardelli in Disney California Adventure offers free chocolate samples. Taking the Boudin Bakery tour also comes with a free taste of their famous sourdough. After riding the Jungle Cruise, ask a Cast Member for a free map of your voyage. While not free, collecting pressed pennies offers a budget-friendly and engaging souvenir option.
For those seeking unique experiences beyond the rides, consider taking the bakery tour at Boudin Bakery to learn about their sourdough process. In Disneyland, listen for the humorous sounds emanating from the second-story windows in the alleyway off Main Street, U.S.A. Look for the tiny Little Man of Disneyland’s house nestled at the base of a tree in Adventureland. Witness the patriotic Flag Retreat Ceremony held daily in Disneyland. Catch the mini character shows in Town Square, featuring the Straw Hatters and the Disneyland Band. Engage in the ongoing quest to find Hidden Mickeys scattered throughout both parks. Take a relaxing ride on the top deck of the Disneyland Omnibus for a unique view of Main Street. In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, pay attention to the intricate details and immersive theming. Finally, step into the Disneyland Magic Shop on Main Street, U.S.A., and watch free magic tricks performed by the talented Cast Members.
Maximize the Magic, Minimize the Spend: Your Guide to Disneyland Savings
Disneyland can be an investment, but several strategies and discounts can help make your visit more affordable. Currently, Disneyland offers savings on select hotel rooms for Sunday through Thursday nights from March 23rd to May 15th, 2025, with booking required by May 12th. Guests booking early for stays of four or more nights between May 16th and September 26th, 2025, can save on select Disneyland Resort hotels. Eligible US military members can also take advantage of great rates on select rooms and specially priced theme park tickets throughout most of 2025.
Magic Key holders enjoy exclusive benefits, including savings on select hotel stays on Sunday through Thursday nights until May 15th, 2025. They can also purchase a specially priced Sip and Savor Pass for the Food and Wine Festival, which includes a themed lanyard. Magic Key holders also have access to a semi-secluded dining and photo-op area during the festival. Additionally, they can purchase exclusive Food & Wine Festival merchandise and enjoy a special trio of ice cream floats via mobile order at the Golden Horseshoe. Select meal combos with a Magic Key sipper are also available through mobile order at certain locations. Magic Key holders can also save on select hotel rooms for longer stays.
Disney Visa cardholders can save on select premium hotel rooms for Sunday through Thursday night stays from March 23rd to May 15th, 2025, at the Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, and Villas at Disneyland Hotel. This offer requires booking by May 12th and using a Disney Visa card for payment. Cardholders also have access to exclusive character meet-and-greets. Keep an eye on the Disney Rewards website for potential future offers.
While mobile ordering primarily offers convenience, it can also unlock exclusive Magic Key offers. Beyond the advertised discounts, several lesser-known ways to save exist. Bringing a reusable water bottle and your own snacks can significantly reduce spending on beverages and park snacks. If you have a Target RedCard, you can purchase Disney gift cards at a 5% discount. If your itinerary allows, opting for 1-Park-Per-Day tickets instead of Park Hopper can save on ticket costs. Consider staying at off-property hotels, which are often more budget-friendly. When dining at sit-down restaurants, ask for a to-go cup to enjoy your drink later. Families with young children will appreciate that kids under three eat free at Disneyland buffets.
Navigate the Kingdom: Mastering Disneyland Crowds for a Smoother Visit
Understanding crowd patterns is key to maximizing your time at Disneyland. For the next 14 days, starting March 18th, 2025, expect above-average crowds this week, gradually increasing towards the weekend. The following week, beginning March 24th, is predicted to have the heaviest crowds of March 2025 due to local spring breaks. April 1st will likely still see elevated crowd levels as spring break continues for some. Several factors contribute to these crowd levels, primarily spring breaks for various school districts, the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, and the upcoming Season of the Force. The Kids’ Special Ticket Offer, ending on March 20th, might also contribute to slightly higher crowds in the early part of the week.
Within the next 14 days, the weekdays of March 18th, 19th, and 20th (Tuesday through Thursday) are likely to offer the lowest crowd levels compared to the weekends and the following week. The general rule of thumb for any Disneyland visit is that the first hour of park opening (“rope drop”) and the last two hours before closing typically see the shortest wait times. Midday, from approximately 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., tends to be the most crowded.
Several refurbishments are currently underway or will be concluding this week. In Disneyland, Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is scheduled to reopen on Friday, March 21st, after being closed since January 7th. Indiana Jones Adventure remains closed from March 17th to April 24th. “it’s a small world” is closed until April 24th. In Disney California Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, March 20th, after being closed since March 10th. Grizzly River Run reopened on March 13th. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will close starting March 24th. Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian Hotel is currently closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen in late March. Napa Rose at the Grand Californian will close on March 28th for an extensive refurbishment. The Grand Californian’s theme park entrance is closed until mid-May, with guests directed to use the Pixar Place entrance. The Pixar Place Hotel pool deck is also closed for refurbishment. The closure of Indiana Jones Adventure will likely impact crowds in Adventureland, while the reopening of Guardians of the Galaxy should alleviate some pressure in Disney California Adventure. The reopening of Jolly Holiday will provide a popular dining option.
To save time, consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which allows you to book return times for multiple attractions. Book your first pass as soon as you enter the park and rebook after redeeming or every 120 minutes. Lightning Lane Single Pass is available for individual high-demand rides like Radiator Springs Racers and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but these must be purchased separately. The Lightning Lane Premier Pass offers unlimited access to all Lightning Lane entrances but is a significant investment. If standby wait times are short, or if you are on a tight budget, you might consider avoiding Lightning Lane altogether.
While Haunted Mansion is not currently using a virtual queue, World of Color – ONE in Disney California Adventure utilizes this system. The virtual queue opens at 12:00 PM (noon) via the Disneyland app, and you must have entered either park with a Park Hopper ticket. For general virtual queue usage, ensure your park tickets are linked in the app and enable notifications.
Single Rider lines, available at Matterhorn Bobsleds, Space Mountain, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster, Goofy’s Sky School, and Grizzly River Run, can often save time for individuals or groups willing to ride separately. Wait times vary, so check the Disneyland app. Rider Switch is a valuable service for families with young children, allowing adults to take turns riding while one stays with the child. Inform a Cast Member at the attraction entrance to arrange this.
For rope drop, popular attractions to target in Disneyland include those in Fantasyland (Peter Pan’s Flight, Alice in Wonderland), Tomorrowland (Space Mountain, Matterhorn Bobsleds), Adventureland (Tiana’s Bayou Adventure), and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run) (more on Rope Drop strategies). In Disney California Adventure, consider Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster, Toy Story Midway Mania!, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! (after it reopens) (more Rope Drop tips). Arrive at the park gates at least 30-60 minutes before opening. Disneyland offers easy park hopping after 11:00 AM due to the close proximity of the parks. Consider starting your day in the park with lower predicted crowds or where you have your first Lightning Lane reservation. Disneyland Resort hotel guests benefit from Early Entry, with 30-minute early access to select areas of one park each day. This week, Early Entry is on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This can impact morning crowd levels, so off-site guests might consider starting in the other park on those days. Extended Evening Hours are currently not offered at Disneyland.
Curtain Up! Must-See Shows and Entertainment at Disneyland This Week
Disneyland Resort offers a variety of captivating shows and entertainment options. “World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure is a spectacular nighttime water show in Paradise Gardens Park. Featuring stunning fountains, vibrant projections, and dramatic fire effects, this show tells a heartwarming story and is highly recommended as a perfect way to conclude your day in Disney California Adventure. A virtual queue is required and opens at noon in the Disneyland app, but dining and dessert packages offer guaranteed reserved viewing (more on “World of Color – ONE”).
In Disneyland Park, Fantasmic! on the Rivers of America in Frontierland is a long-standing guest favorite. This live nighttime show stars Mickey Mouse in a battle between good and evil, featuring impressive water screens, dazzling projections of beloved Disney characters, live performers, and breathtaking fireworks (more on Fantasmic!). Many guests consider Fantasmic! a quintessential Disneyland experience due to its magic and grand scale.
While currently on hiatus, the “Magic Happens” parade in Disneyland Park is known for its modern music and stylish floats showcasing a variety of Disney and Pixar characters (check out Disneyland’s shows). It’s always worth checking the Disneyland app for the current entertainment schedule to see if this vibrant parade might be making a return during your visit.
The Latest Buzz: What’s New and Noteworthy at Disneyland Resort
Several exciting developments are on the horizon at Disneyland Resort. While just outside the current week, the highly anticipated Season of the Force will launch on March 28th, bringing a wave of Star Wars-themed experiences to Disneyland Park. “it’s a small world” is set to reopen with a charming new addition featuring characters from “Coco” on April 25th. Preparations for Disneyland’s grand 70th Anniversary celebration, officially beginning on May 16th, might already be subtly visible around the resort. Stay informed about current refurbishments to attractions and dining locations to plan your days effectively.
Starting March 25th, guests can enjoy the springtime tradition of Eggstravaganza throughout the resort. For those interested in becoming Magic Key holders, currently only the Enchant Key is available for new purchase, indicating high demand for the annual pass program. Looking ahead, a new Disneyland Anniversary Ticket Offer will become available for visits between May 16th and August 14th, 2025. Finally, D23 members can take advantage of a 23% discount on purchases at The Disney Store using the code D23SHOP until March 30th, 2025.

The heart of any memorable Disney vacation often lies in the delightful array of dining experiences, and this week brings a host of new and exciting options to tantalize the taste buds. From upscale dining to quick bites, the culinary scene is buzzing with fresh flavors and seasonal specialties.
For those seeking an elegant sit-down experience, The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios unveiled a significant menu refresh on March 4, 2025, as reported by WDWNT and MickeyBlog. Guests can now begin their meal with enticing appetizers like the House-made Ravioli, filled with English peas and served with a carrot purée and pickled alba mushrooms ($14), or the Creamy Corn Bisque, elevated with a crab salad and saffron crème fraîche ($13). The Sake-Braised Pork Belly, accompanied by an apple-ginger purée, shiitake mushrooms, tasso ham, and shiso ($16), promises a rich and savory start. For a lighter option, the Grand Marnier Liqueur-Macerated Seasonal Fruit Burrata ($15) combines seasonal fruit with burrata cheese, offering a refreshing blend of sweet and creamy textures. The entrée selections are equally impressive, featuring a classic Filet Mignon served with potato-carrot mash, spicy broccoli rabe, black garlic butter, and madeira demi ($52), alongside the Grilled Ora King Salmon with creamed corn succotash, pancetta, and spring onion pistou ($40). The Lamb Shank, presented with a quinoa-pea salad, paneer paratha chips, and mint yogurt ($45), offers a more adventurous choice, while the Free-Range Chicken with scallion-chorizo cakes, roasted squash, grilled peppers, and red mole sauce ($36) provides a comforting yet flavorful option. Enhancements like the Au Gratin Potato with black diamond cheddar ($12) and Braised Wild Mushrooms with shallots, tarragon, and truffle butter ($14) allow for further customization of the meal. This extensive update suggests a desire to offer a wider variety of sophisticated dishes at this signature dining location, catering to diverse culinary preferences. The price points reflect the upscale nature of the restaurant and the quality of the ingredients.
EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival continues to bloom with new culinary creations this week, as detailed on the Disney Parks Blog. At the Florida Fresh booth in World Celebration, guests can savor the Conch Fritters with a zesty key lime aïoli and the refreshing Florida Strawberry Shortcake with vanilla pound cake, macerated strawberries, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. The EPCOT Farmers Feast booth, currently featuring its Early Bloom Menu until April 5th, offers delights like Grilled Asparagus with pancetta bacon, spring peas, frisée lettuce, truffle-sherry vinaigrette, and a soft-poached egg, as well as the sweet Blueberry Crumble Cake with blueberry-lemon zest soft-serve and blueberry compote. Even quick-service locations within EPCOT are getting in on the action, with Connections Eatery featuring new items like the Lemon-Lavender Baumkuchen and the Carrot Cake Liege Waffle. Over at Magnolia Terrace, the addition of Grilled Gulf Oysters provides a savory bite. The sheer volume of new items across the festival highlights its significance as a major culinary event within Disney World, offering a diverse range of flavors and price points to satisfy every palate.
Beyond the parks, Disney Springs is also seeing new additions. Chicken Guy! introduced several “2025 MARCH” items, including the indulgent Oreo Strawberry Cheesecake Shake, the flavorful Truffle Parm Sauce, and the hearty Pepperoni Chicken Parm Sandwich. These additions to a quick-service menu suggest a continuous effort to keep offerings fresh and appealing with popular flavor combinations. Similarly, Earl of Sandwich added the Chicken Bacon Avocado Salad and Loaded Cookies to its all-day menu on March 11, 2025, as noted by AllEars.Net, providing new options for a convenient and satisfying meal. Even classic Magic Kingdom locations are experiencing menu updates, with Sunshine Tree Terrace and Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen both noting changes on March 11, 2025, according to AllEars.Net. While the specifics of the Sunshine Tree Terrace changes require further investigation, Skipper Canteen added Grilled Chicken to its children’s menu, demonstrating attention to even the youngest guests’ dining needs.
As the week progresses, the anticipation for Easter brings a delightful array of seasonal treats, many of which become available starting March 18th, as reported by AllEars.Net in their article on 14 NEW Snacks Coming to Disney World. Guests visiting towards the end of the week can look forward to the charming Painted Egg Whoopie Pie and the classic Carrot Cupcake, available at various locations including Beach Club Marketplace, The Market at Ale & Compass, and Contempo Cafe. Gasparilla Island Grill will offer the whimsical Bunny Burrow Dirt Cup, while Le Petit Café will feature delicate Easter Egg Macarons. Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs will showcase the elegant Easter Egg Petit Cake, the adorable Mini Easter Croquembouche, and the delightful Thumper Cake Bar. The Ganachery, also in Disney Springs, will offer the playful Milk Chocolate Bunny Piñata. For those visiting Disneyland Resort, Red Rose Taverne will feature the Spring Stuff starting March 17th. Pixar Place Hotel will also join the Easter fun with Chocolate Easter Egg Pancakes and Truffled Deviled Eggs, as detailed in the Disney Eats: Easter Foodie Guide 2025 on the Disney Parks Blog. The arrival of these Easter-themed snacks signals the beginning of seasonal specialties that enhance the Disney experience with festive flavors and designs.
Beyond these advertised delights, Disney World holds a few culinary secrets for those in the know. As mentioned in articles on Cozymeal and the Disney Food Blog, At Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen, inquiring guests might discover the Pao de Queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread served with chimichurri cream cheese. Over at EPCOT’s Rose & Crown Pub, the plant-based Christmas Pudding is reportedly available year-round for those who ask. For a refreshing beverage, the Tune-In Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers a Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake that can even be ordered “spiked” for adults. These “secret” menu items add an element of surprise and exclusivity to the dining experience, rewarding guests who seek out these hidden gems.
Several dishes have been generating buzz among recent visitors. The Maple-Mustard Glazed Salmon at Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom has garnered praise for its surprisingly high quality and flavor for a quick-service location, as noted in AllEars.Net’s review. Its popularity led to it becoming a permanent menu item after an initial limited-time run, indicating strong guest approval. Within EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival, the S’mores Bar and Seafood Bake at Beach Grub have received positive reviews, with their inventive flavors and execution being particularly noted by the Disney Tourist Blog. These dishes stand out as well-received options within the festival’s extensive offerings. At Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom, while opinions on the Chicken Parmigiana may vary, the Garlic Bread served with a Parmesan Fonduta is consistently recommended as a standout appetizer, as per the Disney Food Blog’s review. This suggests that even at restaurants with mixed reviews, certain items can become must-tries. In Animal Kingdom, the customizable bowls at Satu’li Canteen continue to be a popular choice, praised for their fresh ingredients and healthy options, and highlighted as one of the 5 Best Disney World Restaurants According to Yelp – AllEars.Net. The recommendation to utilize mobile ordering at this location highlights a practical tip for enjoying this trending dish. Finally, the Chilled Strawberry Soup at 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been recommended as a delightful addition to the character dining experience, and mentioned in The Best Restaurants in Disney World in 2025. These trending dishes reflect the diverse culinary landscape of Disney World, showcasing everything from innovative festival creations to reliable park favorites.
To make the most of the dining experiences, several optimization tactics can enhance your visit. Utilizing the Mobile Order feature in the My Disney Experience app is highly recommended, especially for quick-service locations, as it can save significant time by allowing guests to order and pay in advance, skipping the traditional lines, as detailed in A Comprehensive Guide to the Disney Dining Plan – Coaster101. For those without dining reservations, the Walk-Up Waitlist feature in the app provides an opportunity to potentially secure a table at participating table-service restaurants, offering flexibility for spontaneous dining decisions, as mentioned in Four Disney World Restaurant CHEATS We Use All the Time – AllEars.Net. Continuously refreshing the My Disney Experience app for dining reservations is also a worthwhile strategy, as cancellations frequently occur, opening up previously unavailable times, as suggested in a TikTok video by madisonplansmagic. For families with picky eaters, considering table-service restaurants can be beneficial, as they often offer a wider variety of options and are more accommodating to dietary modifications, according to How to Survive Walt Disney World with Picky Eaters – Undercover Tourist. Guests are also reminded that they can bring their own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages into the parks, which can be a great way to save money and cater to specific dietary needs, as mentioned in the Undercover Tourist article. Finally, sharing larger portions at quick-service restaurants or ordering kids’ meals for smaller appetites can be effective strategies for managing both food intake and budget, as per the Coaster101 guide.
Based on recent guest reviews across platforms like Yelp and TripAdvisor, several menu items stand out as crowd favorites. The iconic Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai in the Polynesian Village Resort consistently receives high praise, even topping TripAdvisor’s rankings, as noted in These Are The Top-Rated Disney World Restaurants According to Trip Advisor – DisneyDose. For a more affordable option, Blaze Pizza in Disney Springs is a popular choice for customizable, made-to-order pizza, also mentioned in the DisneyDose article. The flavorful and customizable bowls at Satu’li Canteen in Animal Kingdom are also highly rated on Yelp, as per the AllEars.Net article on the 5 Best Disney World Restaurants According to Yelp. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Bread Service at Boma – Flavors of Africa and the exquisite cuisine at Jiko – The Cooking Place are both consistently lauded on Yelp, as detailed in a Disney Food Blog post. Back in Magic Kingdom, the Maple-Mustard Glazed Salmon at Columbia Harbour House is gaining popularity, as noted in the AllEars.Net review, while the Garlic Bread with Parmesan Fonduta at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant remains a beloved appetizer, as per the Disney Food Blog review. Within EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival, the S’mores Bar and Seafood Bake at Beach Grub are proving to be popular choices, according to the Disney Tourist Blog. Finally, the Chilled Strawberry Soup at 1900 Park Fare is a recommended treat, as mentioned in The Best Restaurants in Disney World in 2025 on the Disney Food Blog. These dishes represent a diverse range of culinary experiences that have resonated positively with recent visitors.
For those seeking unexpected ways to enhance their dining experiences, Disney World offers a few delightful hacks. As mentioned in a YouTube video by AllEars.net, At EPCOT’s Club Cool, guests can enjoy complimentary samples of Coca-Cola products from around the world, a fun and refreshing break. Homecomin’ in Disney Springs offers a unique refillable water bottle program that, for an additional cost, can be filled with their signature moonshine, providing a distinctive souvenir and beverage option, also from the AllEars.net video. As mentioned earlier, continuously checking the My Disney Experience app for last-minute dining reservation openings and utilizing the walk-up list feature can often lead to securing coveted dining experiences. Finally, don’t hesitate to ask your server for the recipe of a particularly enjoyed dish; many restaurants are happy to provide this as a unique and free souvenir.
Beyond the Usual: Elevating Your Disney Experience
While the thrilling rides and iconic landmarks are undoubtedly major draws, Disney World offers a wealth of lesser-known experiences that can add an extra layer of magic to your visit. From hidden photo spots to exclusive character encounters, these insider tips can help you create truly unique memories.
For capturing picture-perfect moments away from the bustling crowds, several underrated photo locations offer stunning backdrops. As detailed in articles by Melissa Joy Creative, Kelly Prince Writes, and AllEars.Net, consider the serene beauty of the Back of the Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian, or the tranquil Waterfall at the Wilderness Lodge. The Mickey Ears Pop Art at the Contemporary Resort provides a fun and iconic image. Within Magic Kingdom, the charming Center Street on Main Street U.S.A., the elevated view of Cinderella Castle from the Train Station, and the unique perspective from the side of Cinderella Castle in Liberty Square all offer distinct photo opportunities. In EPCOT, the elegant Arches in the Italy and Morocco Pavilions, as well as the view of “the castle” from the Canada Pavilion (above Le Cellier), are worth seeking out. Animal Kingdom boasts the lush Waterfall in Pandora, the vibrant Port of Entry in Harambe, and the scenic Everest-Dinoland Bridge. For more hidden gems, look for the Casting Agency Door and the area behind Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, the panoramic views from the Swiss Family Treehouse, and the picturesque Canada Waterfall in EPCOT. Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers a fun photo spot in the back of the Muppets area, while Animal Kingdom has the often-overlooked walkway connecting Africa and Asia, as well as the tranquil Discovery Island Trails. Finally, the stunning mosaics at Disney’s Riviera Resort and the playful Neon Mickey Wall at the Contemporary Resort provide unique photo opportunities at the resorts themselves.
Encountering beloved Disney characters is a highlight for many, and beyond the scheduled meet-and-greets, there are a few hidden opportunities for exclusive interactions. As explained in articles by This Girl Knows It and AllEars.Net, Disney Visa Cardmembers enjoy a special perk with dedicated photo spots in both EPCOT (Imagination Pavilion, 1 PM to 6:30 PM, often featuring Mickey and Goofy) and Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Star Wars Launch Bay, 11 AM to 4 PM, featuring Darth Vader). These encounters often have shorter wait times and include free digital photo downloads. In EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion, Winnie the Pooh can be found greeting guests regularly, as mentioned on the official Disney World website. Keep an eye out for “Character Palooza,” unannounced pop-up character meet-and-greet events that can occur throughout the parks. Additionally, some characters are designated as “roaming,” appearing spontaneously within specific areas.
While specific unpublished seasonal offerings for this week are not readily available, it’s always worth inquiring with Cast Members upon arrival, as they often have knowledge of limited-time experiences or special touches that are not widely advertised. Disney does offer a variety of “Enchanting Extras“, as detailed on the official Disney World website, such as building your own droid in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or enjoying a private safari tour in Animal Kingdom, but these are typically bookable experiences rather than unpublished seasonal surprises.
Disney World offers a plethora of free souvenirs for savvy guests. As mentioned in articles by Travel Channel and AllEars.Net, collect park maps, character autographs (bring your own notebook!), and Walt Disney World Resort pens. Celebration buttons for birthdays, anniversaries, or first visits are readily available at Guest Relations and many merchandise locations. Keep an eye out for stickers given out by Cast Members, and don’t forget children’s menus often double as coloring pages. Transportation cards from the buses, monorail, and boats make for unique mementos. In Animal Kingdom, participating in the Wilderness Explorers program earns you a book and stickers. Ask your server at 50’s Prime Time Cafe for a ‘Clean Plate Club’ sticker, or inquire about recipes for your favorite dishes. You can even get sprinkled with pixie dust at various locations. Stay hydrated with free ice water from most quick-service restaurants, and sample sodas from around the globe at EPCOT’s Club Cool. Engaging in scavenger hunts like the Wilderness Explorers or the Finding Dory’s Friends hunt in EPCOT also provides a free booklet as a souvenir.
Beyond the well-trodden paths, several unique activities offer alternative ways to experience the magic. As highlighted in articles by Travel + Leisure and the Disney Food Blog, embark on A Pirate’s Adventure — Treasures of the Seven Seas in Magic Kingdom for an interactive treasure hunt. Explore EPCOT’s World Showcase in a new light with Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure using the My Disney Experience app. Become a Wilderness Explorer in Animal Kingdom by completing challenges and earning badges. Help find Dory’s friends in a fin-tastic scavenger hunt at EPCOT’s The Seas pavilion. For Star Wars fans, Batuu Bounty Hunters in Hollywood Studios offers an immersive experience using the Play Disney Parks app and MagicBand+. In Magic Kingdom, you can write a letter to Santa year-round at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, view the authentic Great Seal of the United States at The Hall of Presidents, try to spot Cinderella’s uniquely marked horse on the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, or get a sprinkle of pixie dust at Sir Mickey’s.
Unlock Savings: Making the Most of Your Budget
A Disney World vacation can be a significant investment, but several avenues exist to unlock savings and make your budget go further.
The official Disney World website is the first place to check for current discounts, as mentioned on their Spring at Walt Disney World Resort page. For guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels, a room discount of up to 25% is available for most nights from February 23 to April 30, 2025. This offer directly applies to the current week and can lead to substantial savings on accommodation costs. While a longer stay discount of up to 30% is available from May 1 to July 31, 2025, it does not cover the current week.
Beyond the official site, websites like MouseSaver.com can reveal additional discounts not directly advertised by Disney. Disney Visa Cardmembers, for example, often receive special offers on dining, merchandise, and even vacation packages. Exploring these resources can uncover valuable savings opportunities that might otherwise be missed.
Several lesser-known strategies can also help manage your budget within the parks. As mentioned earlier, bringing your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages can significantly reduce food costs. Sharing meals, especially at quick-service locations where portions can be generous, or opting for kids’ meals for lighter appetites, are also effective ways to save money. Taking advantage of free ice water at quick-service restaurants helps avoid the expense of bottled water. While the Disney Dining Plan is currently unavailable, as noted on the Disney Tourist Blog, being mindful of portion sizes and utilizing free resources can contribute to a more budget-friendly trip.
Navigate the Kingdom: Your Crowd Intelligence Report
Planning your park visits strategically can significantly impact your overall experience, especially when it comes to navigating crowds. While a precise 14-day crowd forecast for March 2025 from the snippets is unavailable, general trends and known crowd drivers can provide valuable insights.
Estimated Crowd Levels (March 11-24, 2025)
Date | Day | Estimated Crowd Level |
March 11 | Tuesday | Medium |
March 12 | Wednesday | Medium |
March 13 | Thursday | Medium |
March 14 | Friday | High |
March 15 | Saturday | High |
March 16 | Sunday | High |
March 17 | Monday | Medium |
March 18 | Tuesday | Medium |
March 19 | Wednesday | Medium |
March 20 | Thursday | Medium |
March 21 | Friday | High |
March 22 | Saturday | High |
March 23 | Sunday | High |
March 24 | Monday | Medium |
Note: This is an estimated forecast based on typical March crowd patterns, which often see an increase due to spring break travel. Real-time conditions may vary.
The primary driver of crowds during this period is likely to be spring break for various school districts across the country, as indicated on the Spring at Walt Disney World Resort page. Weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) tend to be the most crowded, while weekdays generally see slightly lower attendance. The ongoing EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival also contributes to higher attendance at EPCOT, particularly on weekends. As Easter approaches (March 31st), the latter part of March may see an uptick in visitors.
Based on these factors, the weekdays of March 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th, and 18th are likely to be the optimal visiting days within the current week, potentially offering slightly lower crowd levels compared to the weekend. Within the next 14 days, the weekdays of March 19th, 20th, and 24th may also present better opportunities for lower crowds.
To maximize your time in the parks, arriving before the official opening time (rope drop) is a highly effective strategy to experience popular attractions with shorter wait times. Conversely, evenings after families with young children have left can also see a decrease in crowds.
Staying informed about any current refurbishments is crucial for planning your park days. While the snippets do not provide specific refurbishment schedules for this week, it is recommended to check the official Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app for the most up-to-date information on any attraction or area closures. Knowing about potential disruptions allows for adjustments to your itinerary and helps manage expectations.
Efficiently navigating the parks often involves utilizing Disney’s various time-saving services. Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane selections offer a paid option to bypass standby lines at select attractions. Guests need to consider their budget and priorities to determine if this service is worthwhile. Virtual queues are currently in use for popular attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. Joining these virtual queues via the My Disney Experience app is essential for experiencing these rides without a potentially lengthy standby wait. Single Rider lines are available at attractions like Test Track, Expedition Everest, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, offering a potentially faster way to ride for individuals or groups willing to ride separately, as mentioned in A Comprehensive Guide to the Disney Dining Plan – Coaster101. For families with young children, the Rider Switch program allows one adult to ride while the other waits with the child, and then they can swap without having to queue again, also from Coaster101. A fundamental strategy for minimizing wait times is to arrive at the park before it opens and head directly to your highest-priority attractions (rope drop). For those planning to visit multiple parks in a day, utilizing Disney transportation and planning your park hopping route in advance can improve efficiency. Finally, guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and Deluxe Villas should take advantage of Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours, which provide extra time in select parks with potentially lower crowds, as mentioned in the Coaster101 guide.

VOYAGEERS: Finding Hidden Treasures in the Parks

Imagine stepping through the gates of Disneyland, the scent of popcorn mingling with the sound of laughter, as you embark on a journey through a park that feels alive with Walt Disney’s spirit. While iconic attractions like Sleeping Beauty Castle draw the crowds, there are hidden gems—subtle yet significant—that bear Walt’s personal imprint, implemented before his passing in 1966. These elements, often overlooked, reveal his meticulous attention to detail and dedication to guest experience, inviting us to see the park through his eyes.
The Petrified Tree: A Prehistoric Gift
In Frontierland, near the Rivers of America, stands a petrified tree, a relic estimated at 55 to 70 million years old, jokingly called the park’s oldest attraction. This five-ton section, measuring 7.5 feet in diameter, was an anniversary gift from Walt to his wife, Lillian, in 1956, purchased during a trip to Colorado’s Pike Petrified Forest. When Lillian remarked it was “too large for the mantle at home,” it found its permanent home at Disneyland, presented in 1957.
As you approach, the tree’s rough, stone-like texture under your fingertips evokes a sense of ancient history, its plaque telling a story of sub-tropical forests and cataclysmic upheavals The Disneyland Petrified Tree is 34 million years old. This little-known detail, often missed by hurried guests, reflects Walt’s whimsical humor and his ability to integrate personal history into the park’s fabric. Historical accounts suggest Walt arranged for its shipment to California, and Lillian’s presentation to the park in September 1957 adds a personal touch to its placement Disneyland’s Petrified Tree.
The Golden Spire: A Touch of Opulence
Standing at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle beckons with its fairytale allure. Its spires, gleaming in the sunlight, are covered in real gold leaf—a detail that Walt Disney personally insisted upon. Despite the expense, he wanted the castle to be a beacon of magic and wonder. As you look up, the golden spires seem to touch the sky, their luster a testament to Walt’s unwavering commitment to excellence.
Historical details reveal that Walt’s brother Roy initially objected to the cost, but Walt waited until Roy was away on business to have the spires gilded The Gleaming Gateway to Fantasyland – Walt’s Disneyland. This act of passion and attention to detail is a prime example of Walt’s commitment to creating a park that was nothing short of magical. The sensory impact is immediate—the golden glow under the California sun enhances the castle’s fairytale atmosphere, a little-known feature that underscores Walt’s vision for visual splendor.
The Disneyland Railroad: A Nostalgic Journey
Chug, chug, chug—the sound of the steam engine fills the air as the Disneyland Railroad makes its way around the park. This attraction, which has been delighting guests since the park’s opening, was inspired by Walt Disney’s own love of trains. In his backyard, he built a miniature railroad called the Carolwood Pacific Railroad, where he would take his daughters for rides. The Disneyland Railroad is an extension of that passion, bringing the joy of train travel to millions of visitors.
As you board the train and feel the gentle sway, you can almost imagine Walt himself at the helm, sharing his love for railroads with the world. Historical accounts highlight that the railroad was one of the first attractions in the park, reflecting Walt’s personal interest in railroading Carolwood Pacific Railroad. The sensory experience, from the rhythmic chug of the engine to the whistle’s call, connects guests to Walt’s childhood dreams, a little-known connection that enriches the park’s narrative.
From the personal touches like the petrified tree to the opulent gold leaf on the castle and the nostalgic Disneyland Railroad, each element at Disneyland tells a story of Walt Disney’s vision and dedication. These lesser-known details, implemented by Walt himself, are what make Disneyland not just a theme park, but a living tribute to one man’s dream. So, the next time you visit, take a moment to appreciate these hidden gems and remember the man who made it all possible.
