You’ve probably heard the news about Disney canceling the Annual Passholder program last week. It was a tough blow to those of us who’ve been passholders for all these years. However, I don’t think we should be too worried about it, I believe the AP program will be back and could be better than ever!
Don’t miss Sticker Night tonight and check out philliprock’s post about the generosity and kindness that permeates the MouseWait community!
Chelsea and I bought our first annual passes in 1993 when they were $99 for the year with NO blackouts (if you can believe that!). We had them for almost 25 years straight and they were responsible for so many great memories! I don’t think I would’ve started MouseWait unless we were APs for all those years.
Once the Parks reopen and get back to normal, the passholder program will come back and be better than ever. Honestly, the sweet spot for us was in the early to mid-2000s when DCA opened and it seemed like Disney really catered to passholders (they used to send out AP specials at $129 per night at the Grand!!!!).
I think we could experience a passholder renaissance when things are rebooted–a throwback to the time when it was easy to get into the Park, quick to jump on a lot of rides, AP hotel specials, and walking-distance parking.
Ok, I might be going overboard with the positive thinking, but we can only hope!
