Disneyland will move to 35% capacity starting tomorrow, and by June 15, people outside of California will be able to visit–not to mention Disney is planning to launch a new Passholder program by the end of the year!!!!
Shortly after I launched MouseWait in 2009, I wrote an algorithm that became surprisingly good at predicting wait times. If someone submitted a wait time it would override it, but if there wasn’t a time entered, our system would step in with an educated guess based on hundreds of different factors.
Based on this algorithm, I developed the Crowd Index, which could estimate crowds at any given time due to a detailed analysis of attractions, restaurants, historical data, and several other factors.
With Disneyland open at a limited capacity (and after being closed for over a year) these algos are far less effective. It would take about a month for them to catch up if crowd levels remained constant.
